Hi, my name is
Michael (a.k.a. Nhat Duc).
I started photography at 14 years old, roaming the streets of Saigon to capture candid slice-of-life moments. I’m not sure why or how a 14-year-old boy was attracted to street photography, but years later I realized I love being an observer and finding pockets of quiet moments within all the noises.
Street photography is a huge inspiration of mine. I’m mostly inspired by Vivian Maier’s candid street portraits, Henri Cartier-Bresson’s “decisive moment”, and Ernst Haas’s use of colors (just to name a few!).
My style is all about documentary, capturing individuality and candid moments.
A few more fun things about me:
- I LOVE watching K-drama and romantic comedies
- I'm half Vietnamese, half Laos
- I'm inspired a lot through music and lyrics. Sometimes a song can inspire a whole shoot!
- I’m a huge coffee nerd (Barista in Melbourne for 7 years, and I also roast my own coffees!)
- I love long distance running (My longest run to date is 44km)
- I love film photography and vintage cameras
