Earlier this year my family and I took a trip to Laos. We traveled through Oudomxay, Luang Prabang, and Vang Vieng and saw beauty everywhere. It was great to explore new places after all the lockdowns during the pandemic.
As the title suggests, I only took one lens with me for this trip. It was the Nikon Z 40mm f/2 attached to my Nikon Z5. I bought this lens after falling in love with the 40mm focal length a few years back while shooting with a film rangefinder, the Canon QL17, which has the 40mm f/1.7 lens. There are not that many 40mm lens options out there for mirrorless and the 50mm just does not feel the same. When Nikon released this lens I had to get one! And I'm so glad I did.
Sure, traveling with a fixed lens almost guarantee that I will miss some (if not many) great shots. But a while back I've learnt that sometimes it is better to be present and observe the scene with all your senses.
Here are my favorites from this trip, all taken with the Nikon Z 40mm f2 lens. I hope you like them :)
